Small Joys Friday
It's Friday and I thought I'd follow in the footsteps of my blog friend Andi: http://andimae.typepad.com/tales_of_a_crafty_mama/ and give thanks for the little things this Friday. :-)So here goes:
1. My husband and the belly stare.
Oh my Michael is just too cute. Whenever I pass by him he stops me so he can rub my belly and admire it. He also likes to make me pull up my shirt and show family my growing tummy. I'm waiting for him to stop strangers on the street...hopefully it won't come to that ;-) But nonetheless, I think it's the sweetest thing and it shows how proud he is and how excited he is about his baby to be.
2. Arm in Arm with mom.
I love my momma Karen. Michael and me and mom went out to dinner at Calima's (they really should have a reserved seating area for us with Powell engraved on the back of the seats cuz we go there so much! HA!) last night and as we were walking back to the car mom put her arm around me - doo doo and doo. We chatted about pregnancy arm in arm and just as lovingly as you please. It was such a nice bonding moment even though it was just like any other every day occurrence. *It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :-)
3. PBS.
Wednesday night I watched The Dance Theater of Harlem (the first All Black Ballet Company)perform at The White House on a PBS special. It was so inspiring. The dancing was absolutely beautiful and I even got see my friend/former dancing partner Rasta Thomas dance with them! (Rasta and I danced a duet together back in DC. He is an AMAZING dancer and it's crazy to think that I actually danced with him!!). It was such a treat to watch such beautiful art right there in my living room. 4. Heartburn relief.
Yeah, relief of heartburn is a joy- trust me! The nasty heartburn I've been experiencing lately is starting to dissipate and that makes mama VERY VERY happy :-)
5. Good Music.
I bought two CD's last night: Nelly Furtado and Keyshia Cole. Um Keyshia Cole is DA BOMB DIGGITY! I love her voice, the beats, the music, the words, all of it. She performed at the BET Awards on Tuesday night and she did a fantastic job belting out her ballad "Love". Damn that chile can sing! And Miss Nelly Furtado's CD is right on too. Upbeat, different, good dance tunes and kinda funky...I'm down...I'm down wit it! So yeah, I got me some new tunes that I can blast in my car and sing along to at the top of my lungs!!! My baby is gonna come out singin' instead of dancin'....ha!
6. Coldstone Creamery will be the death of me but still it's a small gaseous joy.
Alright so mama was feelin' good after work. I was like, I'm going to get ice cream before dinner and I don't even care! I had me the Birthday Cake Remix (cake batter ice cream, brownies chunks, fudge, sprinkles and caramel-absolutely delicious). This treat has got to be whipped by the wings of Angels, it's THAT good. So I get it, I eat about 65 % of it, I feel great- craving satisfied!
But around 9pm I got the WORST gas pain EVER! Horrible. It was like contractions...all the mom's out there are like uh not even close girlie! Anyways, it lasted all night. But I toughed it out. And yes, it was worth it!
